Day 1 on project

Hey friends and family back in England,
After an early start (6am for our group), we prepared for our first day on the project site, starting off with some delicious runny porridge. With Alex as foreman and Annemarie as Health and Safety Manager (jobs assigned to them), we sorted out the groups and jobs for the day (after our morning stretches). The three jobs involved were shovelling and moving dirt into the classroom site, compacting dirt to firm a strong foundation, and plastering the outer wall of the building. Some were more adapted to the manual labour than others (beef). Everyone has achieved their first jungle - poo by now and we're all very proud.

After a long day of work and many snacks of mandazis (sweet doughnuts without holes - a fried ball of fat), we spent some time playing with the kids, where we learnt that they also love the macarena like us. We also had a large game of duck duck goose and showed them bubbles. Then, we returned home to shower and poo and obviously eat dinner which was fab spaghetti. It was a great day, we're heading to bed at 7pm.

From Phoebe B, Alex and Elian.

P.S. shoutout to the parents, teachers and Maddy, we loved hearing your messages around the dinner table.

  8. Hi TGS Team 1,
It's great to read the report about all your ins and outs but I must admit that the detailed updates about the outs could possibly be considered as TMI(too much information;))But this just shows that I have never in my life had to use a jungle toilet. The light hearted 'beef' about the adaptability to hard physical labour hopefully doesn't include you Moritz and you show much more enthusiasm for the project than you usually do for jobs in our garden.
We miss you and wish you all strength for the task ahead. Your daily updates are eagerly awaited. xxx Ilona, Stefan and
